Hüsnü Duran
“I learned first-hand how hard it can be to grow up as a gifted child. Then all four of my children turned out to be gifted too.”
Hüsnü Duran came to this field as a parent. In the schools and institutions his family dealt with, he found that very little was known about gifted children, and he spent years reading and researching the subject.
In 2018 he left his career in electrical and electronics engineering to begin a master’s degree in gifted education, and in the same year founded the Enderun Association for Gifted and Talented Children. Before graduating, he was already taking part in important projects alongside respected academics in the field.
He knows from experience what it means to be a gifted child, teenager and adult, to parent gifted children, and to teach them. Seeing that some children and families need psychological support as well as educational support, he began a master’s degree in psychology in 2023.
He developed the Hüsnü Duran Model, a five-layer framework for identifying and supporting high-potential and twice-exceptional children. He is the author of Dahi mi Zırzop mu and chairs the board of the Enderun Association.
